Event Volunteer

Position Summary

Event Volunteers represent The Lyons Paw at community events, adoption events, and local businesses. They help create a welcoming environment, educate the public about our mission, and assist potential adopters while ensuring our cats are safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the event.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up and breaking down event displays, tables, and supplies.

  • Welcome visitors and engage with members of the public in a friendly, positive manner.

  • Share information about The Lyons Paw, our mission, volunteer opportunities, fostering, and adoption process.

  • Introduce adoptable cats (when present) and help visitors interact with them safely and appropriately.

  • Answer general questions about cat care, adoption requirements, and rescue programs, or direct more complex questions to an event lead.

  • Help keep the event area clean, organized, and stocked with informational materials.

  • Monitor the comfort and safety of the cats during the event and report any concerns to the event coordinator.

  • Assist with collecting donations, distributing promotional materials, and encouraging community involvement.

Qualifications

  • Friendly, dependable, and comfortable speaking with the public.

  • Passion for animal welfare and The Lyons Paw's mission.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds for event setup and breakdown.

  • Comfortable standing for extended periods during events.

  • Reliable transportation to event locations is preferred.

Time Commitment
Most events are held on weekends and typically last 3–5 hours. Volunteers may choose events that fit their availability.
